Welcome to the Save Darfur website. This website was made to raise awareness in Darfur. Darfur is located in the western region of Sudan, Africa. It is not a country itself. Its size is as big as France. It is a home to diffrent types of tribes of mixed peasants who claim them selfe to be arab. There are also nomadic leaders in Darfur. From these two groups, most of them claim to be muslim. Darfurs genocide statred in 2003. Its three fedral states [ West Darfur, South Darfur, and North Darfur] have been through huge crisis and wars.
The darfur conflit is typically said have started 26 February 2003, when a group calling itself the Darfur Liberation Front (DLF) publicly claimed credit for an attack on Golo, the headquarters of Jebel Marra District. Even prior to this attack, however, a conflict had erupted in Darfur, as rebels had already attacked police stations, army outposts and military convoys, and the government had engaged in a massive air and land assault on the rebel stronghold in the Marrah Mountains. The rebels' first military action was a successful attack on an army garrison on the mountain on 25 February 2002 and the Sudanese government had been aware of a unified rebel movement since an attack on the Golo police station in June 2002. Chroniclers Julie Flint and Alex de Waal state that the beginning of the rebellion is better dated to 21 July 2001, when a group of Zaghawa and Fur met in Abu Gamra and swore oaths on the Qur'an to work together to defend against government-sponsored attacks on their villages. It should be noted that nearly all of the residents of Darfur are Muslim, as are the Janjaweed and the government leaders in Khartoum.

this is whats happenig in darfur. Darfurs population was over 6 million people. Since the genocide struck the population plumeted down to low numbers. Over 450,000 innocent women, children and civil men have been killed in darfur. over 3 million have been displaced, force to mover, from there homes. There are many estimates of the number of human casualties. Reports of violent deaths compiled by the UN indicate between 6000 and 7000 fatalities from 2004 to 2007.According to Sudanese authorities, about 9000 civilians have been killed. Some non-governmental organizations claim 200,000 to more than 500,000 people have been killed; the latter is a figure from the Coalition for International Justice. As many as 2.5 million people are thought to have been displaced as of October 2006.
